A heart-wrenching incident has struck the western coast of the Spanish island of Tenerife, where a powerful wave swept several individuals into the ocean, resulting in four fatalities. Additionally, one person remains unaccounted for. Initial reports indicated three casualties, but the situation soon escalated.
The horrifying event transpired shortly after 4 PM at one of Los Gigantes' favored natural swimming pools, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At the time, numerous guests were either on the rocks or in the water, when an immense wave crashed ashore, pulling them into the depths.
According to emergency services in the Canary Islands, several people were violently swept away by the surging waters. Among those affected were noted to be international tourists, as indicated by the local media outlet Diario de Avisos. A rescue helicopter managed to retrieve one individual alive, while another was sadly recovered deceased.
